This post is part of a special blog series surrounding Childhood Cancer Action Day. Join the community-wide campaign asking Congress to#StepUp: Support More Funding for Childhood Cancer Research. Today is Childhood Cancer Action Day, and we're proud to be on Capitol Hill with more than 250 advocates from around the country asking for Congressional support of initiatives to improve the research, treatment, and outcomes for children with cancer.
This is the third such annual event organized by the Alliance for Childhood Cancer in an effort to advance important legislation that will benefit the nearly 16,000 children newly diagnosed with cancer each year and more than 379,000 survivors of childhood cancer in the U.S. Advocates ranging in age from 3-73 are asking their Senators and Representatives to support funding for childhood cancer research and passage of the Caroline Pryce Walker Conquer Childhood Cancer Reauthorization Act.
While the advocates on Capitol Hill are meeting with their Members of Congress today, we ask you at home to join in the effort virtually. It only takes a couple minutes with our action alert form to write a letter to your Senators and Representative. Below are just a couple of the many powerful letters that other advocates have written to support today's community-wide initiative, and we hope you'll follow their lead with your own letter asking Congress to #StepUp and support our kids!
