Update: Childhood Cancer Survivorship Legislation
Earlier this month, we updated you on the Caroline Pryce Walker Conquer Childhood Cancer Reauthorization Act. This week, we want to give you an update on another piece of legislation we're watching closely - the Childhood Cancer Survivors' Quality of Life Act.
This bipartisan legislation would establish vital programs to enhance and expand care for the nation's 395,000 childhood cancer survivors. Introduced in the spring by Representative Jackie Speier (D-CA) with the co-chairs of the Congressional Childhood Cancer Caucus, Representatives Michael McCaul (R-TX) and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), the House version of this legislation (H.R.2058) currently has 17 co-sponsors. The companion bill (S.1247) was introduced in late June by Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island, who remains the sole Senate sponsor. Write Your Senators
