Last week, we shared news of a new Director of Public Policy joining the CCCA staff. This week, we're proud to announce exciting changes and growth to our Board of Directors. We'd like to publicly welcome Dr. Michael Link and LeAnn Jackson to our Board, and congratulate Elizabeth Goss on her election as Board Chair!
- Michael Link, MD, is the Lydia J. Lee Professor in Pediatric Cancer at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Link is the recipient of numerous awards and honors and is former President of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). Dr. Link was just featured this week in The ASCO Post, in a conversation about key advances in pediatric cancer expected over the next decade:
"One other element essential to improved cancer care is the importance of research funding for progress against childhood cancers. Although we cure the majority of children with cancer, I do not want people to think that we have solved the problem of pediatric cancers. We haven’t." - Michael Link, MD
- LeAnn Jackson became a vigorous champion for children with cancer after losing her son to a brain tumor. She serves as a co-chair of the Patient Family Advisory Council at Duke Children's Hospital, Board Chair of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium Foundation and is on the peer review panel for the DOD's Cancer Research Program.
- Elizabeth Goss, JD, a long-time CCCA Board member, is the new Board Chair. She is a partner at Turner & Goss, LLP, and is a nationally recognized expert in health care policy and patient advocacy.
Please join us in welcoming these new leaders to our team.
In other news, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is right around the corner! We're busy planning. Stay tuned!
