As they care for children affected by cancer, families and health care
professionals strive to ensure that treatment and services are of high
quality. From diagnosis, treatment, palliative, and follow-up care, the
definition of quality standards, their interpretation, and
implementation are the stuff of policy and advocacy. Some examples of
quality care issues that advocates work on include access to new
treatments, health care insurance coverage, medical privacy and
confidentiality, research and services for survivors, including quality
of life, schooling, and follow-up care. The Children's Cause for Cancer
Advocacy works to ensure quality care for all children and families
affected by childhood cancer.
