The current reality is that no effective entity exists to pull together the
spectrum of scientific, medical, regulatory, and business interests to bring
promising therapeutic agents for children more swiftly to the point of
evaluation in clinical trials. Over the past couple of years, the Children's
Cause for Cancer Advocacy has been working closely with the Institute of
Medicine, the National Cancer Institute, pharmaceutical companies, and
leading pediatric oncologists to find a way to dramatically shorten the time
needed to develop agents targeted at childhood cancer.
