Taking a break from cancer

August is a big time for families to go on vacation and get away from school, work and everyday stress. For cancer patients and survivors it is not so easy to plan a vacation away from their disease, but there are many camps and activities that help young people do just that. Here are a few highlights of summer activities for kids with cancer and survivors: Kids perform at Camp Fantastic's annual talent show.

Camp Fantastic - This camp for 7 - 17 year old kids with cancer is one of Special Love's signature programs giving kids the opportunity to play, create, learn, connect and have fun.

First Descents allows young adults fighting cancer to take on an adventure experience of their own and regain the self-confidence and drive that comes from rock-climbing, white water rafting, biking and conquering other outdoor challenges.

Camp Mak-a-Dream, set on a ranch in Montana, is a uniquely adapted camp and retreat for kids and teens to have fun on a ranch and connect with their peers about their experiences with cancer.
